Following a successful festival season in which the band played on the same stages as The Vaccines, The Happy Mondays, Peter Hook and The Beatles (OK maybe not the original Fab Four but the bootleg version are the best you’re gonna get!) we’re delighted to announce further dates this Autumn and Winter with Badly Drawn Boy and The View.
The View dates will be released shortly. For more information on the Badly Drawn Boy support click here
Below are some images from The Beatles in Urmston concert where the band played in front of 3500 at Chassen Park. Asked to perform a Beatles cover version to celebrate the 50 year anniversary, the band performed Hey Bulldog. Who let the dogs out? Woof woof!
On August 10th 2013 The Rainband will play their hometown of Urmston, celebrating 50 years of one of the most talked about concerts in the region.
On August 5th 1963 The Beatles performed at Abbotsfield Park headlining the annual Urmston Show during the Bank Holiday weekend. By the time of their appearance The Beatles had hit number one globally with “Please Please Me” (released 11.01.63) and “From Me To You” (11.04.63). Beatlemania was peaking and the band were in huge demand.
They were just two weeks away from releasing “She Loves You” – If Urmston wasn’t the first live public performance of this eponymous song then it was certainly one of the very first. During this years celebrations at the very location of this historic event The Rainband support what many consider the greatest tribute band to the Fab Four, The Bootleg Beatles and a host of other major 60’s acts such as Herman’s Hermits and The Tremeloes.
Below is the original ticket from the day!
We’re delighted to announce an additional festival date on August 11th. The band will play the Junction 16 festival near Crewe, Cheshire. There’s a very Manchester feel to the line-up with Peter Hook and his band The Light delivering their debut performances of the first two New Order albums, “Movement” and “Power Corruption And Lies”. The Rainband follow this before the days headliners The Happy Mondays wrap up a great days music.
BBC 6 Music DJ Chris Hawkins has playlisted new single World We Seek on his show. At the time of writing the track, which is still available to download FREE from this website, has been played numerous times on the nations premiere radio station for great alternative music. Listen to the track below via Soundcloud.
Glastonbury 2013 has been widely confirmed as one of the best ever, and the band certainly would have to agree on that front. Not only was the weekend weather superb, but after their debut performance on the William’s Green stage on the Friday, festival organisers swiftly re-booked the band to play the Greenfield stage on the Sunday. So, just like the shuttle buses ferrying the crowds in and out, you wait all your life to play Glasto then 2 performances come at once! Roll on next year…
