Our latest single release The Prodigal is out today and can be purchased online from iTunes and Amazon. The remixed track features guest vocals from Manchester legend Rowetta.
The tour begins at a very cold Etihad Stadium and a very ‘hot’ Engine Shed, Lincoln with Ocean Colour Scene
Despite being called The Rainband we’re usually blessed with great weather for outdoor gigs. Delamere Forest with Simple Minds was a balmy 30 degrees in July. I suppose it was pushing our luck somewhat playing outdoors in Manchester in December! Despite the howling wind, driving rain and temperatures just above freezing the 20 minute set at Manchester City before the Norwich game was a huge success. Our 5 song set complementing City’s 5 goals nicely.
Following on from Manchester City we then had to swifty hit the road to get to Lincoln for our soundcheck supporting Ocean Colour Scene on their Moseley Shoals tour. As you can see from the pics below the crowd and atmosphere for this Saturday night gig was amazing. Our 40 minute set consisted of 2 new tunes; ‘Star’s Collide and ‘Cover All Bases’.
On we roll (n’ rock!) to Glasgow Barrowlands on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Martin chooses his favorite 5 football/music tracks on the Umbro blog ahead of the our performance at The Etihad Stadium tomorrow…
It’s a tale of two Cities at the Etihad Stadium tomorrow, as the impressive Norwich come to town to play league leaders MCFC. We’ve cornered another one of Manchester finest bands (strange how all the good ones support City isn’t it?) to pick out some of their favourite tracks that they like to listen to before a big game. They say never work with children or animals but we thought that it was only fair that people saw how fair our competition process is! So sit back and enjoy and watch how our latest winner was selected by the Rainband juniors.
Here’s a quick sneak peek of our photoshoot at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium. The shoot was conducted by the club photographer for our appearance in December’s City Magazine and on the club’s website ahead of our performance at the Manchester City v Norwich game on December 3rd.
It was both an honour and a privilege to perform our music in front of Manchester legends James following their PRS Music Heritage Award and plaque unveiling outside the site of the original Hacienda building.
The band and its members Tim Booth, Jim Glennie, Larry Gott, Saul Davies, Mark Hunter and David Baynton-Power, together with Peter Hook of Joy Division/New Order fame were in attendance.
The Rainband performed a stripped down acoustic version of the set consisting of Rise Again, I Believe In You, The Prodigal, She’s A Rainbow/Tomorrow medley and Headlong.
