Year ends on a high in front of thousands at The Etihad Stadium, Manchester

The Rainband

Today’s gig at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium was something else. There’s no better feeling than playing to our hometown crowd and helping another great cause along the way. Nice to throw in a couple of cheeky Christmas numbers too! We’re in the studio next week to record new single Sirens. A great end to another great year for us.

Thank you all

The View support tour cancelled

Due to circumstances beyond our control, which led to changes to the agreed schedule by The View and their tour management, it’s with regret we have had to cancel our participation in the 4 UK dates arranged with The View this week. The View and their management have put us in an extremely difficult position. Despite being booked as main support for the North of England dates The View have, at the twelfth hour, rescinded on this agreement.

We are fully aware that the Manchester date is only one of two sell outs on the Views European tour in part due only to our name being second on the bill. We never want to disappoint our fans coming to these gigs and have worked long and hard over the last week to come to a compromise with The View and their management. Their stance is clear. They don’t want us at the shows unless we go on at 7.30pm before another support act. This is a tough one for us to take as we gave up our own end of year show to do these dates. For the past 2 years we have generated crowds of 1000+ at The Ritz Manchester. We took on the View dates to branch out to a new crowd. Their management knew with our name on the Manchester date and the others in the area the shows would sell well. This has indeed been the case.

It was a shock to us to find out all the above during last weeks Dublin show. All the correspondence preceding the gig in Ireland showed clearly we were due on at 8.30pm before The View. We even took the ferry across with our tour bus (at a substantial cost to us) to supply, in good faith, our backline to the other support act. Only at the twelfth hour did they deny us the pre arranged agreement.

We have asked that any fans coming to see us at these shows should be entitled to a full refund. The View and their management have denied this too. We are left only to ‘tell it like it is’ in this statement. Their management threatened that this will ‘look bad on us’. We can only tell the truth.

Finally we will therefore be announcing a special one off performance in Manchester which will be free for anyone who brings along their View tickets from Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool or Preston.

Many thanks

Live acoustic performance on BBC Introducing

The UK and European ‘Fire’ Tour began in Manchester last week, continuing with dates in Glasgow, Hull and Dundee this weekend. On the way through to Hull the band had the pleasure of stopping off at BBC Leeds to record a live acoustic session on Alan Raw’s BBC Introducing West Yorkshire programme. You can listen to the full 15 minute interview on our Soundcloud link below. 2 songs were recorded, an intimate version of ‘Fire’ plus live favorite ‘Two Ways, Two Seas’ which appears on the 5 track ‘Fire EP’.
